Stylist Notes

The Dia De Los Muertos Selvedge is a 12.5oz Japanese selvedge denim, expertly crafted to honour the vibrant Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, or the ‘Day of the Dead’. This unique denim is woven in Okayama, Japan, on vintage shuttle looms using rope-dyed, short-slub yarns, which create a rich, textured surface with distinct colour variations. Over time, the indigo on this denim will fade naturally, developing striking high-contrast vertical fades that enhance its character.

Uniquely crafted from 100% Mexican upland cotton, this denim pays homage to its cultural roots with an authentic selvedge ID that mirrors the bold, colourful stripes found in traditional Mexican sarape blankets. Additionally, it features a vegetable-tanned leather patch and pocket flasher adorned with artwork by José Ruiz, known as Koopa—a renowned tattoo artist from Mexico City. Ruiz’s artwork, depicting skeletons around a traditional altar, beautifully embodies the spirit of Día de los Muertos, celebrating life and remembrance.

These jeans are finished with meticulous details, including contrast stitching, as well as silver metallic buttons and rivets, ensuring they are as striking as they are meaningful.
