Behind The Label

The illustrious heritage of Sanders is as remarkable as the footwear this British brand creates. Founded in 1873 by brothers William and Thomas Sanders in Northamptonshire, the company was established after William's return from the Franco-Prussian War.

During World War I, Sanders gained significant popularity, producing approximately 6,000 pairs of boots each week. Despite a major setback in 1924 when a fire destroyed their factory, the resilient brand overcame this adversity. They rebuilt and expanded their factory, centralizing the entire production process under one roof, solidifying their status as an iconic British brand.

Who makes Sanders shoes?

Based in Northamptonshire, a British county known for its footwear creations, Sanders continues to be a family business, guided by the fourth and fifth generations of the Sanders family.
