The 1933 iteration of Levi's® iconic 501® jeans marked a significant evolution, blending innovative updates with heritage details. Introduced during a transformative era, these jeans featured practical additions like belt loops while retaining timeless elements such as the cinch back and suspender buttons. However, Levi's® wearers of the time began to favour modern styling, often removing the cinch and suspender buttons, reflecting a shift away from the older generation's fashion norms. Retailers even catered to this trend, famously keeping scissors on hand at checkout counters to snip off cinches upon request.

A standout detail of the 1933 501® jeans was the redesigned “Guarantee Ticket” adorning the back pocket. Levi Strauss & Co. had trademarked the name "Levi’s®" in 1927, asserting brand distinction as many denim manufacturers were informally referring to their own creations as "Levi’s®." The updated ticket proudly declared, "This Is A Pair Of Levi’s®," a modernised claim replacing the original 1892 phrase, "This is a pair of them."

Adding further historical significance was a small white cloth label under the leather patch, emblazoned with a blue eagle and the letters "NRA." This emblem represented the National Recovery Act, an initiative championed by President Franklin Roosevelt during the 1930s Great Depression. Levi Strauss & Co. proudly displayed this symbol as a testament to its compliance with the labour standards set forth by the National Recovery Administration.
