The New Balance 327 trainer, a fusion of vintage and contemporary running styles, draws inspiration from the classic New Balance 320 and the 1970s New Balance Super Comp. Now, this iconic silhouette re-emerges this season with fresh spring colourways as part of their SS24 collection.
The design concept is rooted in the original running styles of the New Balance 320 and the Super Comp, both introduced in the 1970s. The 320, launched in 1976, marked a pivotal moment by being the first to adopt numerical naming alongside the iconic N logo. Its rapid rise to fame was underscored by Runner's World Magazine naming it the top running shoe. The association with Tom Fleming, who wore the 320s during his victory in the 1975 New York Marathon, undoubtedly bolstered its acclaim.

In contrast, the New Balance Super Comp from 1978 was crafted for synthetic track and road use, featuring an air-sprung sole unit. The 327 notably inherits its sole design from the grippy rubber studded outsole of the Super Comp, further showcasing its tribute to vintage running aesthetics.
In homage to the bold running styles of the 1970s, these latest interpretations of the 327 feature the iconic trail-inspired wraparound lug outsole, wedge EVA midsole, and are completed with flat off-white laces perfect for the warmer seasons.
