When Mephisto's founder and designer Martin Machalei first drew up the designs for the Rainbow shoe - he set out to design what he saw as the best shoe in the world. The French label now returns ahead of this Autumn/Winter with subtle updates on their fan favourite shoe, while still paying homage to this same ethos.
Part of Mephisto's originals collection, the Rainbow was first designed on the promise of being predominantly a walking shoe, whilst not looking out of place day to day. The final result was something that visually sits somewhere between a hiking boot and a trainer. The uppers are made from the best grain leather available - super durable and ridiculously comfortable, especially once broken in.
The latest updates to the Rainbow features the same staple Soft-Air rubber midsole and AIR-RELAX technology paired with a flat heel, minimising impact for a gentle, effortless walk. The uppers feature a velvet leather construction alongside the speedy lacing system, giving a vintage vibe to the silhouette.
