Kardo - Handmade Contempory Menswear

Kardo was launched in 2013 to go against the grain of fast-fashion, after founding Londoner Rikki Kher moved to New Delhi in 2004. Inspired by traditional work-wear and tailoring, KARDO dresses the modern man with subtle twists on classic silhouettes with a focus on attention to details.

Since arriving in India, Rikki has dedicated his professional life to the country and its craftspeople. Fast forward to today & now, traditionally Indian colours and techniques are core to the brand with their textile craft, artisans and the centuries of textile heritage seen in Kardo's seasonal collections..

Kardo aim in all aspects of their craftmanship to 'slow things down', honouring traditional weaving, dying and printing techniques. Produced in India, the brand utilise local techniques such as using fabrics such as Natural Dyed Handloom, Block Printing, IKAT, Natural Indigo Denim, Shibori and Chikankari embroidery. In addition, Kardo actively support and collaborate with handloom weaving communities throughout India in the hope that these traditional techniques don't die out whilst lowering their environmental impact as much as possible.

Designed in and crafted out of their own workshop space in New Delhi, India, Kardo pride themselves on celebrating their workers by paying fair wages for their craftsmanship, and providing them with a safe & healthy working environment. Each product also comes with a unique tag showcasing who was involved in the cutting, stitching & finishing to the garment.

Owner Rikki Kher trusts each tailor to take responsibility for the final product. When they do, he says, the results are far superior. They're proud of the work they've done, and with their attention to detail they know they'll get recognised for their hard work. By being the primary point of contact instead of a cog in an assembly line, they can be paid more for their craft.
