British label Belstaff are back this Autumn/Winter to present another stunning collection of menswear for the seasons ahead - Topographica. Sticking true to their philosophy, the collection boasts innovative designs & aesthetics without sacrificing functionality, taking inspiration from the natural elements. The brand is no stranger to providing functional apparel, having started out in 1924 manufacturing all purpose leather jackets for motorcyclists. The label later ventured into crafting weather-protective jackets for other uses, goggles (primarily for the growing aviation market), gloves and several other garments intended to keep the wearer warm & dry.
The collections name of 'Topographica' plays on the geographic term of topographic - relating to the the arrangement of features within a physical space. The capsule integrates 'past and present to champion this spirit and indicate a new direction of travel'. Bright shades of orange, graph green & ocean blue are incorporated throughout the collection, these refer to wayfinder signals that aid navigation throughout environments and particularly the ocean.
Naval references & new innovative fabric are on display via their wave-dye nylon hybrid pieces such as the Radar Jacket, which also boasts water-repellent capabilities doubled up with 700-fill power down - ideal for those colder days. Moisture-wicking fabrications are also featured throughout the Tactical Wave Dye Overshirts, which allows moisture to quickly sweat to the fabric's outer layer & dry, meaning sweat and moisture doesn't saturate the fabric.
Belstaff's new showcase Wave Dye fabric pays homage to the ocean swell & the labels nautical heritage. It is constructed using 100% recycled materials married alongside a unique hand-dying process. The result is a distinctive two toned effect that is slightly different to every piece, making each unique & a one of one.
