In 1947, Britain was in the midst of post-war recovery, with the landscape—and fashion—having transformed considerably. Among these changes were the iconic 501® Jeans. With the lifting of wartime rations, classic features such as the watch pocket rivets made a welcome return. However, the era's evolving tastes and the rise of the middle class prompted some updates. The jeans adopted a more modern, slimmer fit, and unnecessary elements like the cinch and suspender buttons were removed. The back pocket's Arcuate stitch also evolved. No longer hand-painted as it was during the war, the double-arch design was now created using innovative double-needle technology, ensuring consistent size and precision. Levi's® faithfully recreates these 1947 501® Jeans today, using the same 12 oz. red line selvedge denim, capturing the essence of a pivotal moment in fashion history.
