Stylist Notes

Yuketen's Maine Guide collection takes its cues from the early wilderness guides of New England. These guides, who led European hunters and traders into the untamed North American wilderness, helped create a cultural blend best symbolised by the boots they wore. The snug, hand-stitched leather moccasins of the native peoples were born from the harsh realities of winter and the stealth required for autumn hunts. As the West modernised, these traditional designs evolved, incorporating sturdy lasts, dies, and outsoles to enhance their durability while preserving the comfort of the original moccasins. Elevated in design and functionality, the classic 'American' guide boot emerged. Yuketen honours this enduring legacy by reimagining the guide boot, blending tradition with contemporary craftsmanship.
