The Japanese sock brand Anonymous Ism has its roots in small_scale artisan sock_making: its founder began by producing socks for other companies, using vintage 1970s knitting machines salvaged in Japan, which allowed for complex textures and rich patterns that standard mass_manufacturing couldn't match. After several seasons doing contract work, the brand launched its own line in 2002, gradually building a reputation for socks that blend traditional Japanese textile techniques with influences from marine, military, workwear and historical Japanese art. Anonymous Ism remains committed to craftsmanship and sustainability many of their socks are still woven in Japan, often using organic, recycled or specialty yarns, and their designs balance durability, comfort and distinct style rather than following fast_fashion trends.
