Subsequently, this success led to the release of additional color variants, with even the revered 1906 model, one of New Balance's recent fan favourites, receiving the distinctive protection pack treatment.
The 2002R silhouette is a modern reimagining of the classic 2002 that first debuted in 2010, showcasing New Balance's commitment to innovation whilst paying homage to their heritage. The 2002R boasts a sleek and timeless design that merges seamlessly with the advanced features demanded by today's athletes & comfort demanded on our cities streets.
Unlike the original -Protection Pack' models of the recent past, with these new iterations the mesh base has been replaced with a fully waterproof ripstop nylon. Jagged suede overlays wrap around the entire upper for a "modern artefact"-inspired look, while tumbled leather features on the tongue and "N" logo. The most noticeable change has been to the lacing system which opts for utility-inspired toggle laces, whilst spare rope laces are also provided for a more subtle look.
