Step 1 - Unlace your boots

To start cleaning your Danner boots, you need to unlace them to ensure full access to the entire upper. Dirt can hide under your laces and, if left, can become stubborn and difficult to remove.

Step 2 - Give the boots a full brush down using a suede brush

Grab your suede brush and brush across the surface of your boots to remove any debris that may be loose on the surface.

The bristles of a suede brush are dense but delicate, making it the perfect brush to eliminate any dirt or debris on the surface. Once you have brushed the shoe's uppers, move towards any fabric areas of the footwear to brush any dirt away from those areas.

Step 3 - Use the suede rubber for any deeper stains

The suede rubber is used to remove any scuffs or marks that could be on your boots. Grab the suede rubber and look for any areas that look marked. Simply rub the suede rubber against any marks you may have spotted.

Pick up the suede brush again and give the surface area another once over. You can move in sweeping or circular motions, whatever works best for you. Remove the laces and place them on one side.

Step 4 - Clean the sole upwards

From here, we will clean the sole of the boots using an acrylic bristle brush and foam cleanser. Apply the foam directly onto the acrylic bristle brush, then scrub away at the sole.

You can rub the foam into the sides of the sole first and then work towards the bottom of the shoe. Don't worry if the foam stays on the brim of the shoe; we'll work on this later. You want to gain even coverage with the foam across the sole.

Step 5 - Clean the excess with a microfibre towel

Grab your microfibre towel and wrap the towel around your index and middle fingers. Rub against the grooves of the shoes to eliminate any stubborn dirt lingering.

TOP TIP: When wiping away the foam, make sure you wipe down and not up, so don't push dirt into the shoe but away from the upper.

Step 6 - Apply the cleaning foam to the soft bristle brush to clean the upper

Apply the cleaning foam directly onto the bristle brush and then brush the boots' upper in circular motions. You should see the cleaning foam soak partially into the uppers and the dirt lift away with some of the circular strokes.

Step 7 - Kneed the foam into the upper with a microfibre towel

Using the same index and middle finger, hold with the microfibre towel, wipe the foam into the shoe and kneed the foam into the material. This will help you remove any dirt on the upper and any excess moisture. Repeat where necessary around the upper of the boots.

Step 8 - Deep clean with soft bristle brush

If you want to apply a deeper clean to the boots, dip the soft bristle brush into a bowl of water and then apply the cleaning foam to the brush. The added moisture will help spread the foam evenly and quickly. From here, grab your microfibre towel and wipe away any excess dirt. You can also apply the same process here to the tongue of the boot.

Step 9 - Allow the boots to air dry

From here, allow the boots to fully air dry for a few hours. This will ensure that all dirt and moisture are lifted from the boots.

Step 10 - Clean the laces

Fully submerge the laces in a bowl of water. Apply the cleaning foam to your hands and massage the laces between your hands for even coverage. You can clean the laces from here with a microfibre cloth, removing any excess dirt and moisture.

Dip the laces back into the water to remove any excess foam, then squeeze the moisture from the laces. Dry the laces again with the microfibre towel. Lay them to dry.

Step 11 - Wait for everything to dry

Once everything has dried, you can lace the boots back up and enjoy them for another adventure.

Can I wash my Danner boots in the washing machine?

We advise you never to put your Danner boots in the washing machine. Putting your Danner boots in the washing machine can damage them beyond repair. If you want to give your boots a deep clean, follow the steps above.

How do you dry Danner boots?

Do not place your Danner boots in direct sunlight, next to a fire or apply heat directly to them from a heat source, such as a hairdryer. This can cause damage to the material, including cracks in the leather. To dry your Danner boots correctly, place them in a shaded, dry area, not in direct sunlight.
