Leading British lifestyle and heritage brand, Barbour has collaborated for the first time with fellow British brand, Baracuta on a capsule collection this Autumn/Winter.
In a collaboration that brings two very British brands together, the capsule celebrates Baracuta’s One and Only Original Harrington Jacket - known worldwide as the G9. Born in Manchester in 1938, just one year after the brands inception, 2023 marks its 85th Anniversary. The collection re-imagines this iconic style with Barbour’s signature details to create a contemporary interpretation of a much-loved classic silhouette, merging heritage with modernity.
With seamless synergy, the Barbour x Baracuta collaboration celebrates Baracuta’s quintessential British heritage with Barbour's deep-rooted DNA and classic functional features to finish.
The collection is inspired by the preppy ‘Ivy League Style’ which first rose to prominence at the turn of the 20th century. Pioneered by elite East Coast American students who desired clothing that took them from the lectures to the sports field, it was a huge attraction amongst Brits in the 60s, who interpreted this style and made it their own. The UK Ivy League look was more modish and included new elements such as workwear, silk scarfs and panelled flat caps. Paying homage to these links, this collection presents three styles in various colourways that embraces this concept.
This collaboration takes inspiration from the iconic G9 Jacket, created in 1938 when the Miller brothers produced a practical yet stylish golf jacket. The ‘G’ stands for Golf and ‘9’ stands for the 9 holes in the golf course. Combined with Fraser Tartan, the G9 Harrington Jacket was the start of something very special.
In three distinctive outerwear styles, the jackets feature a striking combination of both brands iconic signature tartans, the Barbour Classic Tartan and Baracuta Fodera Fraser Tartan lining.
Barbour x Baracuta Porton Wax Jacket
The Barbour x Baracuta Porton Jacket is based on the silhouette of Baracuta's iconic G9 Harrington Jacket which has been made in the UK since 1937. This season, it has been designed with optimal Barbour functionality in design, starting with classic 8oz waxed cotton and raglan sleeves. Complete with a vertical-cord-lined stand collar, two deep flap pockets for optimal storage and Baracuta's signature umbrella back yoke that's designed to keep rainwater at bay, this piece is signed-off with a fusion of Barbour's classic Tartan and Baracuta's iconic Fraser Tartan lining.
Barbour x Baracuta Brown Wax Jacket
The brand's iconic G9 Harrington Jacket, the G4 offers a balance between casual and formal style. This season, this classic style is brought to life with Barbour's signature 8oz waxed cotton to bring optimal weatherproof functionality to the forefront of the design. Complete with a horizontal-cord-lined stand collar, two deep flap pockets and safety wallet pockets for optimal storage, Baracuta's signature umbrella back yoke that's designed to keep rainwater at bay and a fusion of Barbour's classic Tartan and Baracuta's iconic Fraser Tartan lining finish this piece in style.
Barbour x Baracuta Clayton Wax Jacket
Inspired by classic fishing jackets, Barracudas Creative director, Daiki Suzuki, puts his own special touch on the Barbour x Baracuta Clayton Wax Jacket. This 8oz waxed cotton jacket offers a weatherproof design that features classic raglan sleeves to protect water from seeping through the seams, while a multitude of practical pockets to the front and back of this silhouette offer a special spot for each of your tools and equipment.

The G9 with its umbrella yolk and Fraser tartan is a men’s classic; we have used that as the bedrock of the collection and fused that with iconic Barbour DNA in terms of our Barbour family Classic tartan and our all-weather 8oz Oban wax cotton. The idea was to create a small range of instant collectables and we worked with the Baracuta team to refine and perfect our ideas. The two brands working together is all about the correct approach to authenticity and relevance focusing on how iconic heritage brands interpret the past for a modern consumer.”

Barbour x Baracuta Tartan Fusion
Throughout Barbour’s history, tartan has played an important role in the company’s heritage. Barbour’s Classic Tartan, is based on the Ayrshire District tartan from where the Barbour family name originated in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland in the 13th century. This collaboration introduces a fusion of iconic tartans, combining Barbour’s Classic Tartan with Baracuata’s Fraser Tartan. In 1938, Lord Lovat, the 25th clan chief of the Clan Fraser of Lovat in Scotland agreed to let the Miller brothers use his family tartan in their brand. Since then, the tartan has been worn with pride, remembering Barbout’s heritage and that of the UK.
