We are excited to announce our latest collaboration with POD Original shoes. This collection focuses on heritage icons in quality materials and timeless silhouettes, that aim to resonate with customers with a sense of nostalgia. It will feature three silhouettes across six colourways and even two suede/leather barrel bags. Although the brand has innovated to bring the shoes into 2021 with a bang, they do carry those old roots we all know and love, like that iconic chunky sole. Staying true to elements of the archive silhouettes, we have the boot, slip on and shoe - in navy, black, light brown and dark brown. All the shoes are then given a unique touch of chunky red laces - giving it a real heritage twist to a classic design. To create unparalleled footwear for men that are on the lookout for durable, comfortable and lightweight shoes. The three-piece collaboration is inspired by styles taken from the POD archive, mixed with the aesthetic soul boy era of the 70’s. To make them relevant for today’s city-to-suburb living the styles are designed in robust leather and buttery-soft suede uppers and a mix of neoprene toplines and corduroy linings. Not to forget, the soles are made with Featherlight technology for cloud-like walking comfort. The collection is set to drop Friday 29th of October, exclusively to Stuarts London both in-store and online.
“It's nostalgic of its roots and that is really prevalent within this collection” Founded in London in 1976, POD has an international outlook, with footwear spanning men’s, women’s and children’s collections. The ‘POD’ name derives from the acronym ‘Product of Desire’. POD was created as a reaction against the platform shoes and flares trend that became popular in the early 1970’s. Founded in London, in 1976. The Pod name derived from an acronym for ‘Product of Desire’. Pod challenges expectations of what a British shoe should be, striking the balance between rich heritage and progressive fashion designs. The original Pod shoe was created as a reaction against the platform shoes and flares trend that had become popular in the early 1970s. The owners of the brand, Bill and Tony, wanted to design a flatter, more casual shoe to be worn with straight fitting jeans. Today, Jagger is Pod’s most iconic design, first produced in 1976. The unique features of Jagger include heavy mudguard twin stitching, a crepe sole and a stitch-out design, which creates a versatile, stylish shoe that over-delivers on style, quality and comfort.
The quality and attention to detail is apparent in the final product, which is complimented with the instantly recognisable quilted upper and POD rubber counter, that is hand-finished on the heel of each shoe as a stamp of authenticity. The POD ORIGINAL x STUARTS LONDON collection is a limited edition launch and celebrates the heritage of a truly iconic brand. When creating this collection, both POD and Stuarts felt that the quality should be second to none. This has been achieved by all the shoes being hand crafted and finished. From sewing the leather panels together or shaping the soles, detail and care has been the centre of each design. We have put together a shoot clip to show you an exclusive look at how they were made, from start to finish - a great inside look into the world of POD shoes.
The Pod collection is designed in England and manufactured in Portugal; in the same factory the collection was first produced with in the 70’s. The factory was founded 1935 and is today’s oldest shoe factory in Portugal, so they know a thing-or-two about high-quality shoes. Pod releases products in very limited runs, so they are able to ensure the elimination of almost all wastage and only buy what is required. POD Original is committed to creating great footwear with care. The collection is set to drop on the 30th of October. In order to be the first to know, sign up to our newsletter here
