Barbour People For Stuarts London – Celebrating Independence

This season the Barbour People team are meeting up with some of their much-valued independent retailers to get our thoughts on the recent collections & to see how we’re styling their pieces. Ahead of the Barbour x Baracuta launch party, the Barbour team came down to the store to chat with our Creative Director Ravi to get the rundown on his styling ethos & what Barbour pieces we’re feeling this season.

Naturally, the hottest pieces of discussion for us is the Barbour x Baracuta collection, with two British icons recently joining forces on Baracuta’s 85th Anniversary. Taking inspiration from the original G9 born in 1938, this collaboration brings three distinctive outerwear styles fusing together both brands’ iconic signature tartans, reimagining Baracuta’s beloved silhouette with Barbour’s renowned wax construction.

Walking us through the store, Ravi explains “Going to my favourite pieces of this season’s collection in Barbour, I’m really really loving the collab between Baracuta.” Speaking on the Brown Wax Jacket, Ravi adds “this is originally called the G4 jacket, it’s got the umbrella vents at the back, it’s got a map pocket. What’s really cool is that they’ve put the two house checks in.”

Next Ravi speaks on the jacket he is wearing – the Barbour x Baracuta Clayton. “So what I’ve got on here is a new Barbour & Baracuta parker jacket. They’ve made it super technical and you can see it a mile away that it just looks totally cool, with all this inspiration there & the little brolly pocket on the back. This has to be one of my favourite pieces, without a doubt“.

Moving away from the rails, Ravi picks out one of our favourite & unsuspecting core pieces from the Barbour collection – “so picking another item that I like, basically, it’s a coffee mug, the nicest thing about it is it actually keeps your coffee warm!”

Whilst talking all things Barbour, the team also wanted to get an insight into how Ravi approaches styling in a current climate where the expiry date on ‘trends’ is getting shorter & shorter.

How would you describe your current style?

My current style, I am a purist sort of guy. I don’t mind spending money for an investment piece item, like this Barbour x Baracuta jacket, but I just like to make statements through my dress sense itselfkeeping it pure.”

What is your source of style inspiration?

My style inspiration, I’m a big fan of Steve McQueen, Frank Sinatra & Daniel Craig – they’re my real style icons.

Describe the Barbour x Baracuta collab in three words?

Historic, quality, timeless.

What is your best piece of styling advice?

Wear what you think looks good on you, don’t copy too much.”
