Service Works, Reimagining Chefwear

Service Works came about thanks to founder Tom Chaundley’s passion for good food. Growing up in a family-run hospitality business working in Kitchens, Tom found himself wearing his work uniform out of hours constantly & even skating in them. After wearing them over the period of 10 years Tom noticed no-one else really made trouser like his Chef Pants to suit everyone and serve its real purpose – and this sparked an idea to create his own.

Tom, like many other’s in the hospitality sector, when working had the choice of wearing either poor quality disposable trousers or his own clothes of better quality, but then inevitably they would get dirty pretty quick working in a kitchen. In addition, thicker cotton or denim trousers also tend to be too hot for the hot environment of a working kitchen, which lead Tom wanting to create something that sat in-between the two.

Service Works’ chef trousers are now their showcase piece, made from a light, kitchen-friendly polycotton and are exactly what you need if you work in a busy restaurant. Manufactured using classic workwear construction with durable fabrics, they provide a stylish and comfortable alternative to unsustainable and disposable chef trousers that Tom always avoided in his early career.

Much like other Workwear giants such as Carhartt WIP, Service Works’ functional appeal stems from how it’s not a brand that alters as the fashion trends are. The iconic Chef Pants are constructed using heavier weight, carefully sourced organic fabrics that as mentioned remain lightweight enough for kitchen use – just as Tom envisaged. Keep an eye out on our socials & new arrivals for the latest from Service Works, arriving this season.
