Pod Originals – Iconic British Footwear

Pod Originals has represented the core of English subculture since their inception. The brand was founded out of the capital, London, and takes it’s name from an acronym for ‘Product of Desire’. Pod Originals’ owners Billy & Tony initially created the brand against the grain. The style of the 70s was very heavy on platform shoes & flares – a trend the the pair wasn’t fond of. This resulted in the birth of the first Pod Original – a flatter, more causal shoe that was more versatile & compatible with straight fitting jeans.

The Pod collection has always married together British design & European craftsmanship. All models are still to this day designed in England & manufactured in Portugal – utilising local cobblers skillsets. The factory was founded in 1935 & is officially the oldest shoe factory operating in Portugal – having been producing Pod silhouettes since the 70s.

Pod Originals Jagger

Pod Originals most iconic, and arguably most popular model, is the Jagger. First produced in 1976 it features unique features that were pioneering at the time. The use of heavy mudguard twin stitching alongside a stich-out design created stylist shoe that didn’t compromise on quality or comfort. A natural crepe sole also provided cushioning unlike many other competing footwear at the time and is still a sole of choice today for a number of household name footwear manufactures.

Pod Originals Lennox

The Pod Originals Lennox boasts many similarities to the Jagger with an updated twist. They feature authentic leather uppers with the infamous Pod contrast stitch detailing & mudguard stitching construction throughout. The crepe sole has been contemporarily updated with an updated Featherlite sole – a lighter alternative to the rubber midsole of the Jagger.
