Maharishi – Behind The Label & SS22 Arrivals
Maharishi London
Maharishi is a London-based streetwear label, founded by Hardy Blechman, in 1994. The label is defined by its ‘pacifist military design’ aesthetic, as camouflage is a common motif in their overtly military-themed designs. The brand return this year with another capsule collection for SS22, full of accessories and outerwear essentials for this Spring/Summer.

Behind The Label
Born and raised in Bournemouth, Hardie’s passion for fashion evolves from his dedication to antiques and ‘old things’. He discovered his interest through his father who owned and antique shop and became a passionate collector. Bleckman collected everything until he determined his love for old military clothing, this was the foundation for the line he would later create and is still his greatest inspiration.
Blechman’s deep attachment to camouflage comes from his love of nature. Growing up in the seafront town of Bournemouth, when he inevitably moved to London to pursue his ventures, nature became more and more important and significant for him as he no longer had that luxury on his doorstep.
Maharishi translates literally from Sanskrit to “great seer” – meaning great vision, in this case Hardy Blrchman’s vision via clothing. On the street Maharishi stands for a uniform in everyday life, based on many Far Eastern influences, which unite on camouflage patterns of the whole world. Hardy Blechmann is also a pioneer in material development in collaboration with textile manufacturer ITS Artea from Italy, who previously worked with Massimo Osti on C.P. Company and Stone Island, developing numerous fabrics that were revolutionary at the time.

Building a visual code that combines army surplus with influences from Japan and India, Maharishi promotes its central core values of pacifism, ethical production and camouflage history, deftly negotiating the world of streetwear to cultivate a celebration of the beauty of utilitarian design.

Maharishi Clothing
Maharishi has unveiled Drop 1 of its Spring/Summer 2022 collection. Inspired by the Lunar Year of the Tiger, the capsule plays with seasonal colours and intricate graphic designs. The collection incorporates the label’s signature camouflage pattern – DPM: Golden Tigerskins – as well as using a vibrant 3M iridescent variant.
With updated SS22 ‘MILTYPE’ styles and detailed tiger graphics, Maharishi effortlessly ties in the Year of the Tiger theme. Standouts from the capsule include a “Year of the Water Tiger” embroidered tour jacket and cargo pants decorated with tiger motifs. Core hemp and organic cotton sweats with seasonal colours of olive and red-orange round out the capsule collection.
