Fila Vintage – 110th Anniversary Collection
The 110th anniversary of the Italian born sportswear brand Fila. In celebration of this milestone year the brand have launched their limited special-edition 110th anniversary collection.

110th Collection
The collection’s vision was led by British stylist & fashion journalist Katie Grand who is known for styling countless big-ticket runway shows every season, including Louis Vuitton and Prada. Fila aims to celebrate its iconic heritage through this collection by revisiting it’s decorated history whilst “reimagining the future”.
Many archival styles from Fila’s rich sporting pedigree have been brought back via reissues with a contemporary update. The collection comprises a selection of men’s and women’s pieces, each limited to 500 units in production.

All materials and packaging used throughout are exclusively in Italy to pay homage to the brand birthplace. Each aspect of the collection is numbered out of 500 to reflect what unit of production the piece is.
Fila, Brand History
Fila was founded in 1911 by two brothers who opened a textile shop, originally selling sewing materials to the local people of Biella at the foot of the Italian Alps. After a decade of notable growth and some gained experience, the brothers decide to expand their textile business into a knitwear manufacturing business, producing fine sweatshirts, scarves and jumpers.
Who Launched Fila?
Word of their innovative designs and reliable quality spread over Italy and in 1942, they merged with the Fila Fratelli company where they went on to another 25 years of success in the knitwear industry. In an attempt to further expand the company, Giansevero Fila hired Enrico Frachey as the managing director of Fila in 1968. Frachey understood the goals of Fila and respected the brand, he would go on to become the man who launched Fila into the world of global athletics by representing and sponsoring athletes in worldwide competitions.

What Makes Fila Special?
Fila gained global attention for its instantly recognisable tennis apparel in the 1970s, and has since expanded their design portfolio to include sporting apparel across a wide range of codes including golf, training, running and compression wear. Their fresh products paid homage to the all-white traditions of tennis but brought originality with elegant uses of trademark Fila colours: navy and red layered upon an off-white tennis polo, proving that classic does not have to mean conservative.

After years of success in the tennis industry, Fila began making shoes for sports ranging from basketball to mountaineering, which ended up sprouting their streetwear success in the 90s with everyone from Tupac to Timmy from next door rocking an oversized Fila sweat.
In recent years the brand has seen a spike in popularity with 90s vintage and brands amongst the football scene making a comeback along with other brands of the time such as Kappa, Sergio Tacchini & Ellesse.
