Timberland, Coming Soon to Stuarts
What Timberland Means?
Born in 1952, the love for the great outdoors has always been at the forefront of Timberlands story since day 1. It all started with Nathan Swartz, a young Ukrainian who immigrated to the United States and began his journey as an apprentice shoe maker at Abington Shoe Company. He slowly but surely worked his way up through the ranks before investing into company shares and later going on to buy out his partner and bringing his two sons into the business.
Not long after the family business moved to a small corner of New England, an area renowned for its majestic mountain ranges, rocky shorelines, dense forests, rivers and lakes. This area was also subject to every and any type of weather including blizzards, rainstorms and sub zero winter temperatures. It was therefore the ideal testing ground for the iconic waterproof ‘Timberland’ boots – born in 1973. Thanks to a new innovative injection moulding technique used on the boots which had not been seen before, the boots were rugged, well-crated and could withstand the treacherous weather conditions of New Hampshire. The Timberland boots set the benchmark across the footwear industry, being the boot of choice for hikers, tradesman and walkers who wanted reliable yet a stylish pair of boots. Thanks to the success of the boots, Abington Shoe Company was renamed to Timberland in 1978.

What Is Special About Timberland?
This classic men’s leather boat shoe is made with premium Better Leather, which is sourced from a sustainable tannery rated silver for its environmental processes. This tannery certificate classifies the production of the shoes based on energy use, waste production and water treatment. With a traditional handsewn construction and comfortable leather lining, this boat shoe also features a cushioning EVA footbed for ankle support & shock absorption and rawhide laces in a 360° formation for adjusting the fit. The shoes also boast a leather interior lining for further cushioning and comfort as well as a chunky rubber lug outsole for gripping capabilities in all weather conditions.
These rugged 6 inch boots feature all the footwear technology you could think of. They include PrimaLoft® ECO insulation and nubuck Better Leather sourced from sustainable tanneries, similar to the 3-eye boat lug’s. The comfy EVA footbed gives cushioning and shock absorption with anti-fatigue technology featured throughout the midsole, which uses geometric cone support to provide exceptional standing comfort, shock absorption and energy return making this boot perfect for people who are on their feet all day. The boot is also curated with fully sealed seems and made of specially treated fabrics, making them 100% waterproof as well as robust 100% nylon laces reducing the likelihood of fraying in wet and cold climates.
The name of this jacket speaks for itself, coming in red & yellow tartan colourways this puffer is crafted from an eco-responsible mix of wool and 45% recycled polyester, creating a bold winter look. PrimaLoft® ECO is the insulation of choice, crafted from synthetic fibres & including a minimum of 50% PET (from recycled plastic bottles) that form a dynamic insulation structure. These compression–resistant fabrics maintain loft and retain warmth, even when they get damp. The outer shell is comprised of ‘REBOTL FABRIC’ – an environmentally-friendly material created by collecting non-biodegradable PET plastic bottles, recycling them, and turning them into RPET yarns (Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate). This fabric is then treated with durable water repellent to add a protective layer to the jacket, ensuring water can run off the jacket easily and not sit in situ.
Just like the Welch Mountain, this jacket has no limits when it comes to being eco-conscious. Made using 67% organic cotton combined with 33% recycled polyester, the organic cotton is produced without harmful chemicals or pesticides, while recycled polyester utilises waste materials from landfill and gives it a new life. As stated in the jackets name, this parka features DryVent™ technology which provides effortlessly breathable, durable and waterproof protection against the rain. This is supported by a water repellent outer shell and fully sealed inseams, reducing likelihood of water penetration to the 100% recycled Thermore® Ecodown® down fill insulation.
This men’s corduroy overshirt is presented in two classic winter colours, brown & navy. The overshirt is crafted from 100% organic cotton, which is produced without any toxic fertilisers or harmful chemicals, creating a much smaller impact and carbon footprint on the environment. The corduroy material provides that necessary warmth whilst remaining lightweight and a full zip closure allows for outfit versatility. A 2-piece sleeve construction and oversized fit makes this over shirt a perfect layering piece in the upcoming winter months.
Timberlands heritage of innovation and craftsmanship remains with a new eco-friendly focus also being pushed as it becomes even more important in modern times to respect and replenish the environment around us. The iconic boot that got timberland on the map reflects the brands ethos of providing protection in the harsh winter climates whilst also, where possible, protecting the very environment that the timberland range allow us to explore.
