Gabicci AW22: Cool Ruler

For their Autumn/Winter collection Gabicci have collaborated with
creative production agency for Afro Arts & Culture – ‘Cool Ruler’ in celebration of the original Cool Ruler, Gregory Isaacs. Best known for being a key figure in the Jamaican reggae scene, Isaacs was instrumental in the genre’s recognition and rise in popularity outside of Jamaica – especially within the UK.

Gabicci’s clothing has been linked to many different musical cultures and movements over the years including the rasta and rudeboy movements that were heavily influenced by Isaac’s music. The music and the clothing were both important parts of what became an underground subculture in the UK.

Isaac himself was a fan of the brand and has been photographed wearing their clothing throughout his musical career. He was known to have had a large collection of pieces from the label and is credited by many as being influential in shaping the style of the subculture surrounding reggae in the UK.

In celebration of this partnership, Gabicci, in collaboration with Cool Ruler have released an exclusive collection for their Autumn/Winter. Gabicci describes the collection’s concept.

“We have taken influence from Gregory’s style and our archives, to go back to our roots and design a nostalgic range of Limited Edition suede trim knits, colour blocked jersey polos and retro collar plaid shirts. The colour palette is true to the era, but ever relevant now with warm earthy tones of clarets and honey, along with neutral accents of navy combined with highlights of oat.”
