adidas SL 72 | Born On A Podium

Making its debut on the world stage in 1972, the SL 72 was adidas first sneaker to feature the trefoil logo. The sneaker has been recreated to embody he same specifications as the original. SL stands for Super Light, and was the first member of this lightweight sneaker club. To this day the shoes are exceptionally lightweight, largely thanks to the nylon uppers and sleek construction which results in a clean and sporty style.

Adidas have gone to great efforts to use the same fabrics that were used in the original. The lightweight tongue comes in the classic retro style and the synthetic suede overlays on the upper allow for increased durability. The sole is a particularly special piece of design from the German sneaker legends, with a tooled EVA midsole giving it a striking, streamlined look and a retro rubber tread sole in a ripple style.

The original colour way has been used, a rich blue with red and white detailing throughout. Perfect for those looking for a bolder colour way without looking too garish. The toe box and overall shoe fits a bit narrower to contemporary trainer styles, just like the ‘70s version. The shoe is finished with a trefoil laden insole and seated three stripes across both sides of the sneaker.

Whether you are a sneaker collector or just keen on getting a new pair of classic sneakers, these are a must see. Perfect for casual outings.
