Men’s Style At Ascot: What To Wear

Ascot is fast approaching so the time is now to start planning your outfits! Royal Ascot is a prominent event of the Summer season and one in which combines both fashion and horse racing – what’s not to like. Although traditionally women steal the show with their bold colours and fancy hats, your outfit should not go amiss. In fact, mens style at ascot is becoming just as popular and with lots of paps around, this could be your time to capture those lenses.

Ascot is renowned for smart outfits and casual attire is certainly out of place. Ascot themselves state that the attire should evoke ‘sartorial elegance’ – basically, go smart. The whole fashion focus of ascot first began in the turn of the 19th century when Beau Brummell, arguably the biggest fashion icon to grace Britain, dictated the dress for men within the Royal Enclosure. His sense of smart style is still mirrored in Ascots fashion persona today!

Ascot also released a style statement for mens style this year stating that ‘for gentlemen, mixed textures and bold colours come to the forefront of formal wear’ With this in mind and of course a Stuarts London touch, we have put together our top four outfits for the upcoming Royal Ascot events in June.

Now Royal Ascot fashion can get complicated as you are expected to dress based upon the enclosure you will be in… However, if you keep it smart with these Stuarts London outfits you are set for all the enclosures (but perhaps take a top hat if you are in the Royal Enclosure…)

Style One

This outfit is a great look for ascot as not only does it embrace the smart dress code but it also combines Summer style with the light colours and burst of the light pink shirt. The addition of shades it also a must have for the event, with the sun set to soar you don’t want to spend all day squinting. With these Monokel eye-wear shades, you will combine practicability with effortless style. Finish off the look with Universal work trousers in navy twill to really give that summer vibe. The trousers are also lightweight in nature, something you will only be thankful for in the sun. Finally, finish of the look with some Yogi Caden Suede lace up shoes to really give you a great outfit for the races.

This outfit gives the ultimate smart casual look. Combining a striped polo shirt with a basket weave jacket for a quirky combination that gives you the edge to your Ascot attire. The subtle dragon fly broach from the Gibson Jacket adds subtle undertones of class and really adds a unique touch to help you stand out for all the right reasons. Along with the navy twill pants and Sebago loafers, you can’t go wrong. Loafers are also a great alternative to smart shoes for the day and not just due to their breath-ability but they are a real upcoming trend for smart wear.

After all, shoes can make or break any outfit. This outfit has been partnered up with a pair of hand crafted Grenson boots which plays on the natural connotations of smart dress and ultimately gives a bold, stylish and smart style.
