Portuguese Flannel meets Japan, 1543 style!

Portuguese Flannel are back and they certainly have not disappointed with their new vacations shirt called Japan 1543. This shirt was designed by Antonio and Manuel, the two brothers who founded the brand and is a new unique design for SS19. This bold piece was inspired by the affiliation between Portugal and Japan back in 1543 and the history of this era is told beautifully through delicate artwork across the shirt.

Portugal was the first European country to reach Japan and this time is often entitled Nanban Trade, where both Europeans and Asians would engage in mercantilism. The shirt offers a vintage Japanese appeal through the colouring and voyage print with  Mother of Pearl buttons. The relaxed camp collar and chest pocket with a straight hem really gives it the perfect style for the warmer months that are fast approaching. This shirt would work well with some shorts and summer shoes – the perfect holiday attire.
