Our Notes From Belstaff HQ
This week the Stuarts London team headed to Belstaff HQ to explore their history and gain an incite into the brands future. We’d like to share that experience by giving a Belstaff 101. So whether you’re new to the brand or are a long time fan, there’s something here for you.
Belstaff, a timeless brand, has innovation at it’s core. Founded in 1924 by Eli Belovitch he pioneered the use of waxed cotton in mens apparel, resulting in an hard wearing garment that is both breathable and weather resistant.
Today Belstaff continue their innovating spirit by creating unique garments for world record breaking events such as the Bloodhound project, which sees man set a new land speed record of 1000mph.
Using unique production methods in Italy Belstaff are proud of their high quality production methods. Each jacket is worked on my by hand using only Grade 1 lamb or calf skin, every panel is hand waxed (yes every panel one by one, taking approximately an hour per jacket), finishing with stitching and steaming. Even the badge is hand stitched. The result produced is an authentic and unique garment that is ready for all purposes.
What’s clear to us at Stuarts London is that a Belstaff jacket is fit for all modern men, whether you’re a winter explorer in a signature Mentmore, a traditional motorcycle enthusiast in a classic Roadmaster or an urban city goer in the Shawbury, the balance of functionality and style is why a Belstaff will never go amiss. It’s clear that Belstaff produce some of the finest leather jackets in the world, however stay tuned because they’ll soon be turning heads in the technical outdoors with their Origins project. Stuarts London will be sure to bring you all the updates you need.
