Our 2016 Oscar Style Predictions
It’s almost that time – the 2016 Oscars are just days away and whilst everyone is arguing about which film is going to take the main prize, here at Stuarts we want to know what the leading men will be wearing to the event. One of the most hotly contested categories is Best Actor, although the majority of people are expecting Leonardo DiCaprio to finally take home the golden statue, there’s stiff competition in the style stakes as three of the most fashionable males go head to head.
With our eyes firmly on the red carpet this Sunday, we thought we would have a bit of fun and predict the fashion choices of our favourite Hollywood stars.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Category: Best Actor (The Revenant)
Chance of Oscar win? We think it’s his year.
We’ve watched Leo evolve from a floppy haired child actor, to the bonafide Hollywood leading man that he is today. His outfit for the BAFTAS was a classic, fitted black suit with a subtle pattern complimented with a solid black trim and black patent loafers. Leo has always stuck to classic style for red carpet events and considering the buzz surrounding his nomination, we predict a classic black tux and a nominee groomed to perfection – let’s hope he doesn’t revert back to his Revenant ways.
Michael Fassbender
Category: Best Actor (Steve Jobs)
Chance of Oscar win? Underdog, but there could be a shock steal!
Michael Fassbender manages to create an effortless style that combines practicality with sophistication. His red carpet look is never 100% polished, yet he stays on the right side of smart-casual by combining simple looks with signature accessories and expertly groomed facial hair. For the Oscars, we’re not expecting a major change from his classic look. Our prediction is a slim fit navy suit with a black bow tie. As Fassbender is known for not adding too many additions to his look, we also predict he will shun a belt or watch and instead stick to his trusty pair of designer aviator sunglasses.
Eddie Redmayne
Category: Best Actor (The Danish Girl)
Chance of Oscar win? Two years in a row seems unlikely, but who knows!
Eddie Redmayne may be the outsider when it comes to an Oscar win this year, however when it comes to fashion choices – we’re expecting big things. As a fairly young actor, Redmayne has managed to showcase his own unique style on the red carpet. The red tartan Valentino suit that he wore to the premiere of The Danish Girl proved that he takes risks when it comes to fashion, however they always pay off. We expect a twist on the classic tuxedo this year, perhaps with a vintage feel.
