Stuarts Style Predictions: 2016
Okay you’ve got us, so menswear trends for Spring/Summer 2016 have already been revealed on the international catwalks earlier this year, but that doesn’t mean they’ll all take off! Looking through some of the seriously over the top looks that greeted the runway across some of the biggest fashion meccas in the world, we could see some budding new trends that tipped us off as to what you’ll be looking for when Spring rolls round. Keeping ahead of the game is what it’s all about, so we’ve put together some of our top menswear style predictions for 2016 to make sure you’re looking fresh at all times.
First up, the freshest colour there is: Green.
While green have been popular for Autumn/Winter 2015, these have been earthy hues often compared to military greens. For spring, bottle and apple greens will be appearing on the scene in a neat transition that turns up the brightness on your outfit as well as the weather. If you want to get a hint of this trend in your Winter 2015 wardrobe, try this Oliver Spencer Clerkenwell Tab Lupin Green Shirt.
Next, another smooth seasonal transition: Accentuated Pockets.
We know that the more pockets the better. Carrying more stuff can never be a bad thing, so the news that more, even easier access pockets was on our style menu was more than welcome. In the new season, pockets are going to be placed right in centre stage, forming part of the style rather than just being part of the functional design. We always knew that function and style would become one, and here’s the trend to prove it. Of course, winter jackets are already well-equipped with pockets galore so check out the Barbour International Duke Rust Wax Jacket for your fix.
Time to put those ankles away with the return of: Socks.
Yes that’s right, instead of showing off unsightly ankles by not wearing socks with your shoes, next season it’s going to be all about showing off your socks. This is the perfect time to invest in designer socks to get ahead of the trend and really show who’s boss. Don’t hide them away, show off your socks with pride and match them to your outfits. Check out the range of Burlington socks for classic designs or Paul Smith socks for something a little more contemporary.
More jacket improvements: Suede.
It looks like jackets for Spring/Summer are really getting a makeover in 2016. Upstyling them from standard materials, designers are inviting a little luxury into your wardrobes with some supersoft and effortlessly suave suede. Guaranteed to look and feel good, a suede jacket will be great for layering in the Spring transition and keeping the cool evening breezes at bay during Summer. Some designers are already experimenting with this trend, take a look at this Baracuta G9 Original Avio Suede Harrington Jacket.
