Adidas Gazelle OG: Rich, Vibrant and Simple

The Adidas Gazell OG

The Adidas Gazelle was introduced in 1968, The Dassler Brothers worked together and sharing ownership of what became Dassler Shoe Factory, the Dassler brothers fell out in 1948 and went their separate ways, Adi forming Adidas and Rudi forming Puma.

It’s remarkable how two brothers became responsible for such sportswear giants.

With a history as rich as that of Adidas, it’s maybe easier for Adidas Originals to delve into the archives and unearth icons than for most other brands as an all-around trainer, training/soccer shoe,  The Gazelle became popular in the 70’s & 80’s and  the Gazelle is one of the most popular Adidas models ever. The Adidas Gazelle has gained iconic status and it was favoured originally by terrace casuals, then by B-boys and later by Acid Jazz and Brit Pop stars.

The Gazelle has been released in hundreds of colour variations over the years in its usual suede material. Recent issues have seen leather, hemp and multi-coloured theme based designs. Now they are back, maintaining the trendy retro style that has not changed much over the past 50 years. Today, the Adidas Gazelle OG embraces a more modern, sporty look that is certain to please and Adidas Gazelle OG is built to the original silhouette and specifications, with a rich suede upper and comfortable rubber outsole The shoes’ distinct and classic look from the 1960’s, including a suede upper and rounded toe, ensure the Adidas Gazelle.

Each shoe is complete with Adidas Gazelle OG branding in gold foil lettering on the side – a classic characteristic with a contemporary twist. The shoe comes in air force blue and white, burgundy  and  grey and white and light orange and black, all featuring the unique metallic gold foil lettering on the side and the tones here are rich, vibrant and simple. All the usual Adidas Gazelle elements are in place here, it’s a classic design that still holds its own today.

The tonal colour application is combined with suede and leather uppers and the blue Adidas Originals branding on the tongue adds the final touch to the simple aesthetics. In addition to style, Adidas continues to provide unmatched comfort with its Gazelle OG.

There have been a few versions of the iconic Gazelle over the years but the OG is as close to the original 1968 version as you are going to get in 2011 Whether a football fanatic or someone looking for the perfect everyday shoe, the Adidas Gazelle OG provides the right mix of style and day-to-day wear ability for a sneaker.

From their slim shape to the athletic comfort Adidas is known for, the new Adidas Gazelle OG brings Adidas’ classic design into today. The Gazelle OG is a favourite and this release proves why, with a solid selection of reissues in their original colours.
