Belstaff Mens Jackets

Belstaff Jackets

A History of Adventure

Founded upon the spirit of Motorcycle Racing at its finest, the Inaugural Isle of Man TT in 1907, Belstaff has a deep connection with Motorsport finding its spiritual home up and down the UK at some most famous TT venues from Brooklands to Pendine Sands. Even though it was not until 1930 that Eli Belovitch went into business with his son-in-law, Harry Grosberg, to form the Belstaff Brand the need for practical motorcycle wear was apparent on the TT circuit even throughout the midst of World War 1.  Based near Stoke Upon Trend Belstaff was the first company to produce practical waterproof garments for both men and women, with the emphasis on motorcyclists.

Remaining at the cutting edge of outwear technology, it's founders were constantly travelling the world to source fresh fabrics and manufacturing techniques allowing Belstaff to become the first company in the world to use Egyptian waxed cotton to manufacture 'breathable' yet waterproof jackets and other items of apparel.

The History Behind The Label

Belstaff, also known by its original name, Belstaff of Lougton, was based in Loughton near its traditional home of Stoke Upon Tent. After the textile crisis of 1990 Belstaff was forced to move to Wellingborough, which saw Belstaff's ability to produce goods faster reduced. Perhaps makes owning a Belstaff Jacket twice as special.

Now owned by INEOS the same owner as Jimmy Choo, Belstaff is firmly positioned as a darling of British Heritage Menswear with a focus on producing some of the best men's outwear - in both style and quality - that  celebrates the brands vast history in motorcycle racing, exploration and aviation on-top of sticking to its tradition of striving for innovation. In recent years it has celebrated this fact with film releases of Outlaw featuring British icon and Belstaff Brand Ambassador David Beckham as well as releasing the short film Falling Up which focuses on the story of Amelia Earhart.
