The Dockers® K-1 khaki was inspired by the original Cramerton khakis produced during WWII. During the Great Depression, Galey & Lord worked with Cramerton Mills to manufacture a fabric suitable for civilian work wear; thus Cramerton khaki was born.

World War II marked a turning point for Cramerton. During the five year conflict, Galey & Lord redeveloped its entire khaki line and began selling Cramerton to the U.S. military. The trademark Cramerton Army Cloth quickly became the standard issue for all US uniforms and was worn by millions of soldiers throughout the world.
