Merz b Schwanen

Merz b. Schwanen use old circular knitting machines from the beginning of the last century in order to create an under shirt that captures both the feeling and the quality made in Germany back in the days With the help of a traditional knitwear manufacturer based in the German Swabian Mountains, vintage fashion a?cionado Peter Plotnicki revived the “old way of crafting clothes.

Driven by his passion for traditional fabrication processes this team created a collection of t-shirts and button border shirts (“henleys”) solely made by circular knitting machines like they were used from the roaring well into to the golden fifties. These authentic machines leave their individual trait on each fabric they produce, which ultimately results in the individuality of every single garment: an irregular weaving pattern without a side seam. Another unique characteristics of the collection are the woven labels: they are made with a hand-made punch card on historical looms from the 19th century. Merz b. Schwanen stands for high quality traditional products.

Peter Plotnicki is a true admirer of authentic products and does not bend to short-lived trends. This collection is a monument to his beliefs: All tops are based on authentic clothing – sometimes slightly modi?ed, sometimes copied from the original piece down to the last seam.

He also sets great store by the label “Made in Germany”. Not only the trimming’s cotton fabrics, buttons, hang-tags, and packaging are German-made, even the woven tags are designed with an intricate eye for detail. Merzb. Schwanen, made in Germany therefore stands for high quality traditional products — without compromises!

Merz b Schwanen x Nigel Cabourn

Nigel Cabourn was very passionate about Merz b. Schwanen’s traditional button border shirts manufactured on old circular knitting machines in the Swabian Alpes, and Peter, being a true admirer of Nigel’s work, liked the idea of a collaboration Details on a series of limited edition jersey pieces.. The striking results are a full and a short sleeve granddad shirt in the exclusive colours bright green, corn and army and a men’s vest available in the colours corn, army and white.
