Bellroy is innovating new ideas for carrying more efficiently. Provide better access, better experiences, and even add a little protection for your pocket contents.
Bellroy craft the very best products, hoping to give you many years of happy wallet service. The leathers are free from any Chemical dying and instead are tanned by hand using Vegetable Tanning methods.
The Australian company manufactures everything in their own workshops. The leathers are soft and supple, durable and with age look even better. The concept was to make a range of wallets that take out the fat.
Wallets are subject to mass production and factories are just packing them out with compartments without any thought to design. Bellroy are totally against this and focus on making wallets that are designed from start to finish, each compartment is there for a purpose.
After checking the wallets in the flesh, all the team at Stuarts have become fans of Bellroy, because not only do they look great , but are intelligently built but feel weightless in the pocket.
It Starts With the Hide
For wallets, there is no other material that compares to leather. It has strength, durability and resilience, while also managing to be supple and bend to your needs.
Yet there are many kinds of leather, and most of them can't really deliver a great wallet.
All of Bellroy's leathers are vegetable tanned, avoiding the nasty toxins that come from chrome tanning. They are then dyed through as semi-aniline leathers, which means they should age much more gracefully than just surface painted leathers.
You'll also notice a thinner leather than most wallets. This lets you reduce unnecessary bulk, while also encouraging the wallet to better shape to your cards.
Bellroy's List of Goals - a company statement that they have worked very hard to follow :
For those interested, we expand on their goals:
GOAL 1. To create products that will be used and loved for as long as possible, they need to be: Durable (stronger stitching, tightly woven lining, quality zips & components), Classic (aim for style not fashion), and have Personality (design in personalities that mean owners don't feel the need to upgrade as often).
GOAL 2. We aim to eliminate serious toxins throughout our product and packaging. That includes: Environmental toxins (bleaches, pesticides & heavy metals), Human toxins (carcinogens used in leather tanning & chrome plating, high allergy materials like nickel used in plating).
GOAL 3. To seek biodegradable or recyclable materials and products where they make sense. Use where they do not compromise points 1 or 2. Choose efficient recyclables: Polyester is a material that recycles well. Use in linings and stitching. Design for dis-assembly where possible, to assist in separation for recycling
GOAL 4. To reduce waste and energy consumption through our entire process means: More efficient business practices, Reduce business travel where possible (instead using technology to connect), Encourage work from home offices where appropriate (offices are so last season anyway), and Responsible waste management from suppliers and tanneries
GOAL 5. To actively pursue better understanding about our impacts and how to reduce them. We need to read, connect & discuss principles with knowledgeable groups and individuals, then measure impacts where feasible.
